Content Marketing Specialist – 1-year contract (mat leave)

We are seeking a content marketing specialist to fill a maternity-leave position for one year. The successful candidate will be an SEO and SEM wizard, have serious web and social chops, can create and publish snappy, lead-generating content in ECHO’s warm and welcoming tone, and be a self-starter who is able to work autonomously while being an integral part of the bigger ECHO team.

What you’ll do

 

SEO & Content Strategy

The successful candidate will be responsible for the full content cycle, which includes ideation, keyword research, content planning, and management of the content and editorial team for content development all the way up to publishing. To do this, you will:

  • Execute technical audits, keyword research, content gap analysis, on-page optimization, content wireframing, and reporting/tracking
  • Perform ongoing keyword research, write and evaluate copy for SEO, and have the ability to determine appropriate strategies with the right analytics
  • Develop and implement SEO strategies that drive organic traffic, improve organic visibility, and increase conversion rates
  • Make recommendations on which audiences, formats, and SEO platforms are to be explored to maximize reach and efficiency
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest SEO trends, AI strategies, and algorithm changes, and communicate these findings to the team
  • Analyze our website user habits as well as client personas and other insights to help us find new opportunities for gaining exposure and converting leads
  • Use regex to analyze and segment search query data to identify specific keywords or phrases on Google Search Console
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to monitor, analyze, and share insights on market trends and competitor strategy, specifically competitors’ share of voice
  • Track KPIs, campaign performance, channel data, and analytics to support marketing and communication planning

SEM Research & Google Workspace Management

The successful candidate will monitor how our leads discover us and leverage our Google workspace to augment traffic, gather data, and get noticed by the right people to do business with and hire. To do so, you will:

  • Review Google Analytics for website activity, referral traffic, user demographic data, and other key metrics to shape marketing objectives and meet business goals
  • Manage large-scale app migrations and the Google tags/snippets installed on the ECHO website that gather data
  • Maintain the health of our Google Ads account and lead gen support by monitoring campaign and ad performance over time by:
    • making quarterly adjustments on ad spend per campaign
    • testing new keywords to identify best performers (as well as negative keywords)
    • tracking search-based leads funneling into our account
    • implementing processes to track incoming leads in a more streamlined way
  • Manage the ECHO Google Business Profile to moderate reviews, adjust company hours for holidays, and update images and other relevant information to make it easier for visitors to find and reach our channels

Website Management

The successful candidate will implement the revamp of ECHO’s website by:

  • Working with our internal and external design and programming partners
  • Implementing changes based on our strategic plan and brief

You will also manage the current ECHO WordPress website by:

  • Keeping content up-to-date and maintaining functionality and optimal user experience
  • Analyzing, recommending, and implementing improvements to the website using data collected in partnership with internal stakeholders
  • Performing regular site audits and working closely with our IT consultants to ensure all site sections are crawlable and optimized for proper keyword focus and that users are provided with appropriate content/functionality to match searcher intent
  • Supporting custom web development and plugin updates
  • Researching new ways to drive traffic to specific pages
  • Research competitors to understand the market, and find opportunities to highlight our work through competitions, networking events, podcasts, and media outlets
  • Managing employee bios on the ECHO team page
  • Assisting the HR team with posting job listings on the ECHO Careers page, social media channels, career portals, and beyond

Social Content Strategy

The successful candidate will manage and develop engaging multimedia content for the various platforms that drive traffic to the ECHO website (including our bentlily.com asset and its platforms), with the goal of converting five quality leads per month, nurturing current and prospective clients, and attracting new recruits to our roster of talent. You will work in collaboration with the team to produce content that:

  • Showcases our work, processes, milestones, and team culture in the form of videos and other digital content that embodies our storytelling spirit
  • Demonstrates our thought leadership through valuable, knowledge-based articles (Forbes content, in-house blogs)
  • Draws the ECHO network closer by sharing updates, resources, and opportunities to enrich our culture
  • Trains individuals to tell better stories for their families, communities, and businesses

You will also:

  • Share ECHO activity and events on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
  • Moderate audience activity on each channel on a daily basis to review mentions, incoming messages, identify leads, remove suspicious or unfavourable content/users, and engage with the overall community

Copywriting & Partner Content Development

The successful candidate will co-ordinate, write, and/or edit thought leadership blogs, case studies, and press content in collaboration with the in-house team or freelance writers. You will:

  • Submit answers for 4–6 relevant Forbes Expert Panel Questions per month
  • Research new topics and work with the Assistant Editor to draft and edit one featured article per month to submit to the Forbes Agency Council, with the goal of publishing at least 10 articles per year
  • Create case study content following the completion of a project to showcase the final work and the story behind it, in collaboration with the design and editorial team, and publish the case studies on the website and promote them via the newsletter and social media
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Editor, curate a collection of stories (via web and ECHO’s own resources) for our biweekly ECHO Digest

What you’ll need

  • 3+ years of SEO experience with a proven track record of driving organic traffic, conversions, and revenue
  • Strong project management capabilities and operational expertise
  • An understanding of all areas of SEO, with a strong emphasis on content marketing
  • Strong editorial skills and an eye for creating high-quality, engaging content that drives conversions
  • Proven experience in content marketing and a track record of success in driving organic growth
  • Proven experience in managing copywriters and editors to produce and execute a content strategy
  • A general understanding of growth marketing areas outside of SEO, such as paid media, copywriting, A/B testing, product, and retention marketing
  • Experience with analytics and SEO tools such as Ahrefs, Semrush, and Google Analytics
  • Experience in popular CMS platforms (Webflow, WordPress, Shopify)
  • As a bonus, experience with coding (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

Hours and Location

This is a full-time position, five days a week in our studio (with the option to work remotely on certain days). Our address is 1616 W 3rd Ave, Vancouver, BC. Please note that our studio is on the second floor in a building with no elevator.

Salary

$50,000.00 to $55,000.00 per year plus benefits, commensurate with experience.
