As a global leader in electrical and digital building infrastructure, Legrand knows complexity.
Their executives are fluent in systems, markets, product lines, and performance. But when it came to sharing stories that connected emotionally with clients or teams, many team members struggled to find the right voice.
Legrand’s North and Central America division was looking for more than presentation tips. They wanted their leaders at all levels to engage clearly, communicate persuasively, and show up with confidence in key moments.
This wasn’t about public speaking polish. It was about moving away from dense, technical scripts toward simple stories that resonate.
They needed storytelling skills. And they needed them delivered in a way that felt business-first, not theatrical.
Solution
A practical, human-centred storytelling workshop
Echo designed a hands-on train-the-trainer program for Legrand’s executive leaders to deliver our customized content alongside video content we created together.
Leaders attended a three-hour virtual workshop built out in five modules, accompanied by a tailored pre-learning video, onscreen interviews and stories, custom visuals, and other engaging materials in each on-demand class.
This workshop successfully gave Legrand’s internal trainers the knowledge, skills, and tools to confidently deliver one-hour workshops to their own teams, focusing on:
- Identifying story-worthy moments that come from real work and lived values
- Structuring stories that land quickly and clearly with any audience
- Using tone and delivery to shift from passive information to active engagement
We also built exercises that reflected the kinds of presentations, town halls, and customer meetings these leaders face every day.
Participants tested and refined their messaging with input from Echo’s facilitators and each other. The tone was focused but relaxed, designed to build confidence, not stagecraft.
Result
New tools that leaders actually use
Following the trainings, feedback was immediate and consistent.
The teams that Legrand’s leadership was training felt not just inspired, but equipped.
They walked away with practical frameworks they could apply that day, whether in internal presentations, investor updates, or partner meetings.
Several participants later integrated personal stories into major executive communications, helping humanize their voice across the organization.
Because the session was tailored to real-world use cases, the impact stuck.
The training didn’t just check a box. It created a shared language around storytelling that continues to influence how Legrand’s people show up and speak.

The brand story behind the brand story
Before we could put the Legrand story up on its feet, we had to come to an understanding of what that story actually is.
A brand story was the first step on the path.
Working with John Selldorff, CEO of Legrand North and Central America, our brand story strategist gleaned all the juicy bits of their history, strategy, go-to-market tactics, and corporate values to craft a single, simple story that captures the Legrand Way.
From there, we wrote a speech for John to deliver at a sales summit and designed a visually engaging slide deck that was projected behind him onto a massive screen. Massive, like 15 feet tall and 100 feet wide.
The standing ovation after his speech was all the kudos we needed.
