Integrating the story of the wealth into the family purpose

Earlier this year, I began a partnership with the Family Office Exchange. As a Special Advisor, I had the pleasure of sharing some of my storytelling knowledge with this global community through the FOXcast CEO series. Here, trusted advisors and experts from around the world share their insight on diverse subjects like philanthropy, governance, investing, and more.

There’s a delicate balance between sharing enough and sharing too much – both among family members and with external constituents. How should families navigate this balance and determine how much to share internally and with the public and their employees?

In the family wealth space, we are increasingly talking about the importance of telling the family story and passing the history down to future generations. In this podcast, I tap into the neuroscience behind sharing authentic stories – both stories of success and of adversity.

This episode was first released by the Family Office Exchange on October 16, 2025.

About Samantha Reynolds

Samantha was named one of British Columbia’s “Top 40 under 40” in 2005. Under her leadership, Echo has produced over 300 corporate and personal stories since 1999. She speaks across North America to executives and high-net worth individuals about how to use authentic storytelling to engage customers, employees and millennials.

When someone is telling you an authentic story, it activates "mirror neurons." When these brain cells fire, they ignite empathy. We are mentally and emotionally living the story as we listen to it.
